Treatments for sports injury 2017-12-13T20:05:49+00:00

Your First Visit.

In the first session you will undergo a medical screen. This involves a discussion about your injury, how it happened, how long ago it happened, etc. Postural analysis may also be carried out. The remaining time is spent by treating the actual injury, using any of the therapies mentioned below.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy is a hands-on treatment which focuses on eliminating the cause of a person’s acute to chronic pain and dysfunction. It enhances the function of joints, muscles, and the biomechanics (movement) of the body.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage helps a person prepare for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, relieve swelling, reduce muscle tension, promote flexibility and prevent injuries.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is a technique used to treat myofascial pain. A dry needle is used, (one without medication or injection), inserted through the skin into areas of the muscle, known as trigger points.  Many conditions can benefit from trigger point dry needling.

Frequency Specific Microcurrent.

Frequency Specific Microcurrent is an exciting new way of treating nerve and muscle pain and many other conditions using specific frequencies and micro amperage current. Excellent for inflammation and recent injuries including tears, pulls, fractures, bruising, etc.

What is Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM)?

Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) is a new way of treating nerve and muscle pain and many other conditions using specific frequencies and micro amperage current. It often produces immediate results, quickly, easily and comfortably. It is excellent for reducing inflammation and for the treatment of recent injuries including tears, pulls, fractures, bruising, etc.

is a non-invasive, drug-free method of pain management.  It works by placing electrodes at specific sites on the body depending on the physical location of the pain.  The current travels through electrodes and into the skin.

FSM can also treat inflammation related conditions such as Crohnes disease, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and inflammation in tissues. Another area it can be used is scar tissue – both in the muscles (like the ropey grisly knots in shoulder blades) post surgery adhesions (and pain) and scars on the skin both normal and keloid.

What can it do and how does it help?

New injuries heal in record time. In studies, FSM was shown to increase the rate of ATP production by 500% and has been shown to reduce inflammation by 62% in four minutes. FSM can remodel scar tissue in one sixty minute session that would take months to do manually. Most of the time FSM produces immediate dramatic changes in tissue that make it an indispensable tool in treating pain and many other health concerns.

Hydration

Because such small current is used, it is susceptible to the hydration level of the recipient. In order to gain full benefit from this treatment, you must be well hydrated. It is recommended that on the days of this therapy, you drink 8-10 glasses of water (not tea, coffee, etc) prior to your session. At a minimum, it is recommended that you drink at least 1 litre of water in the 2 hours prior to your treatment.
